Splitting against the Clinton varsity Redwolves, the Northwest girls’ softball team achieved some exciting milestones.   Senior Ava Golightly recorded her 200th run on the night, placing her within the Michigan High School Athletics Association All-time top 50.  Senior Lucy Bivens recorded her seventh win of the season.  While freshman Shannon Christner recorded her first home run of her young career.  The Mounties won the first game 8-5.  

In the second game, the Mounties started strong, scoring 2 in the top of the first inning on a lead single by Golightly. Unfortunately, that was all the team scored for the game, and they lost 12-2.   

Head Coach Dan Good said after the game, “We have a great balance of young and veteran players on this team, and we are excited with how they are gelling as a unit”.   “Ava’s accomplishments tonight are phenomenal, and we are all so proud of her.”

The Mounties returned to action Saturday at the Chelsea tournament, taking on the number one-ranked team in division two, Gaylord.
