Led by Tournament Champ, Cody Rowe, Mounties Finish 3rd in Field of Top Teams
The Northwest Boys’ Golf Team competed at a Bedford Valley Invitational Thursday. In a small field of some very good teams, the Mounties post a team score of 317 just behind two of the top teams in Division 2 in Gull Lake at 312 and Grand Rapids Christian at 316.
The Mounties were led by junior, Cody Rowe, who was the tournament champion, firing an even par round of 72. Junior, Jake Brafford posted an 80. Right behind him was Riley Banks with 81 and Mason Beecher with an 84 to complete the team score.
“The small field of top teams played the tough course at 6500 yards. It is longest track we’ve played this spring, and the wet conditions made it even feel longer.” said Coach Cantlin. “It was the first time playing this course for three of the guys. Getting experience on another challenging course will help the guys get ready for our regional on Tuesday.”
The Mounties play in their Division 2 Regional on Tuesday at Island Hills Golf Course in Centerville. Region 9 boasts one of the most competitive regions in D-2 with up to 8 teams battling for the 3 qualifying spots in the State Finals. Go Mounties!!
