Northwest JV Golfers Finished 4th Wednesday at Lumen Christi JV InvitationalThe Northwest Boys’ JV Golf Team competed in the Lumen Christi JV Invitational at the Cascades on Wednesday. Playing the par 72 course at 5766 yards, the Mounties finished in 4th place with a team score of 369.  Lumen Christi, the host of the annual invite, captured 1st and 2nd places with their gold and green teams firing tournament low rounds of 349 and 363. Harper Creek finished 3rd at 365.The Mounties were led by senior, Thomas who posted a personal best round of 83 which tied him for the individual tournament medalist position.  Fellow senior, Jayden Penrod, fired a round of 90.  Juniors, Mason Beecher and Javen Palmer, posted scores of 95 and 101 to complete the team score.  Sophomore, Devin Mollette, also played finishing with a 107.“It was a very exciting day for Thomas as he got on a roll and just keep it going to finish tied for first,” said Coach Tracy Dryer. “He’s really been wor

The boy's track and field team competed in the Charlie Janke Invitational at Jackson High School on Friday.  There was an hour weather delay, but the team came out with some great performances.  The team finished 8th out of nine schools. Gage Marken set a school record in the 110 Hurdles eclipsing a record from 1990.  Marken finished 3rd with a time of 15.46.  This was also a 10th grade record.   The 4 X 800 Relay team of Chase Lawrence, Ashton Dack, Silas Shepherd and Hudson Cooper ran a season best time in 8:53.50 finishing in 6th place.  The 4 X 200 Relay was 4th with a team of Cooper, Dack, Marken and Leland Lindemeyer.  The 4 X 400 team consisting of Cooper, Dack, Shepherd and Keith Edward was 5th. In the Long Jump, Leland Lindemeyer was 3rd and in the Pole Vault Jalen Jordan was 4th. On Tuesday, April 29th, the track and field team will travel to Western to take on the Panthers and Marshall.  This meet was changed f

ALL NW Sports Physicals must be dated after April 15, 2025 for the upcoming school year 2025-2026. First official day of High School Fall sports is August 11th 2025. Milestone Night for Mounties Softball Team

Milestone Night for Mounties Softball Team.   Splitting against the Clinton varsity Redwolves, the Northwest girls’ softball team achieved some exciting milestones.   Senior Ava Golightly recorded her 200th run on the night, placing her within the Michigan High School Athletics Association All-time top 50.  Senior Lucy Bivens recorded her seventh win of the season.  While freshman Shannon Christner recorded her first home run of her young career.  The Mounties won the first game 8-5.   In the second game, the Mounties started strong, scoring 2 in the top of the first inning on a lead single by Golightly. Unfortunately, that was all the team scored for the game, and they lost 12-2.    Head Coach Dan Good said after the game, “We have a great balance of young and veteran players on this team, and we are excited with how they are gelling as a unit”. &

The Northwest Boy's Track and Field team traveled to Western High School for the annual Ralph Rice Invitational.  The team finished 9th of 13 teams with 41.5 points.  The team compiled 15 personal records and 3 relays had season best times and there was one school record . The 4 X 200 relay team set the school record with a time of 1:31.91 and finished second.  The team members were Hunter Samulak, Leland Lindemeyer, Hudson Cooper and Aiden Tryon.   Tryon was 1st in the 100 dash.  The 4 X 100 Relay was 3rd with season 's best performance. Ashton Dack was 8th in the 400.  Gage marken was 7th in the 300 Hurdles.  The 4 X 400 team was 7th.  Jalen Jordan was tied for 6th in the pole vault. NW Boys Golf finishes 4th

Wind and Unfamiliar Course Provides Challenge for Golfers in Opening I-8 Jamboree at Binder Park Golf ClubThe Northwest Boys’ Golf Team competed in the first I-8 Jamboree of the spring playing an unfamiliar course on a very windy day provided a challenge for the Mounties.  They finished the day in 4th place overall in the point standing with a front nine score of 172 and a back nine score of 167. Host team, Harper Creek, bested the field by 20 strokes over all and taking 16 points on the day.The Mounties were led by junior, Jake Brafford, who fired an even par round of 36 on the front nine and a 43 on the back nine for 79.  Junior, Cody Rowe, did not fare well on the front nine scoring a 45 but was able to finish with a 38 on the back nine for an 83.  Sophomore, Sully Mohlman, played solid golf with 45 and 42 on his nines for an 87 and Riley Banks finished with a total of 93 to round out the scoring.“Despite higher scores for each guy on one side or the other, there were

Congratulations to our very own NW Bowling Coach, Gerry Lobdell for induction into the Michigan High School Interscholastic Bowling Coaches Association Hall of Fame. We are extremely proud and excited for this great milestone of Coach Lobdell's coaching career.    Sunday, 4.13.25, NW Bowling Coach Gerry Lobdell was inducted into the Michigan High School Interscholastic Bowling Coaches Association Hall of Fame.  This award was presented by Suzy Thayer a long time Jackson coach and someone who he grew up around in the bowling community.  Coach Lobdell was able to receive this award with his parents, and wife present at the ceremony.Twenty five years ago Mel Wolf started high school bowling in Jackson. Coach Lobdell was fortunate enough to bowl his senior year of high school.  The following year he took over as the Head Bowling Coach at Jackson Northwest.  Twenty four years later here we are.While the wins and state titles have been a blessing,

Friday 4.11.25 - OnstedThe lady Mounties had a great day sweeping every flight to win 8-0 against Onsted. The girls started off slow but quickly gained momentum to secure the win without dropping a set. Highlights from this match include the 1 doubles team of Lindsea Baker and Addison Surbrook winning in convincing fashion 6-0 6-0. With 8 new athletes in the varsity lineup the girls continue to get better each day. Saturday 4.12.25 - Coldwater and Three Rivers Coldwater/Three Rivers- The Mounties traveled to Coldwater to compete in a tri meet against Coldwater and Three Rivers. First the Mounties played Coldwater where they fell 0-8. The girls played hard and competed against an experienced Coldwater team. Melia Piloske had a hard fought match but after 2 hours of competing she fell 6-3 7-5. 4/11:Rowe Repeats as the Coldwater Invitational Medalist Posting 74 Leading the Mounties to a 9th Place Finish The Northwest Golfers competed in the Coldwater Invitational Friday placing 9th in the 24-team field with a team score of 338.The Mounties were paced by Cody Rowe who fired a round 74 taking tournament medalist honors for the 2nd year in a row. This year wining the invite in a two-hole sudden death playoff after tying with two players from Marshall. Juniors, Jake Brafford and Jarrett Osterberg carded rounds of 84 and 88 respectively and Sophomore, Sully Mohlman posted a 92 to finish the scoring.  Junior, Mason Beecher also played finishing with 94.“Cody scored pretty consistently with 2 birdies and 3 bogeys on both the front and the back nine.” Said Coach, Martha Cantlin.  “However, on the front Cody was hitting more greens then on the back, he had to scramble a bit and knock down several putts.”The Mounties play Monday in the first I-8 Jamboree of the season at

NWHS Boys Track 4.11 Results

The boy's track and field team traveled to Napoleon for their annual invitational.  There were 14 teams and Northwest finished 5th with 80 points.  3 Relays had season best and there were 9 personal records.  Leland Lindemeyer won the long Jump with a jump of 21' 5.5", which is a personal record, a school record and a qualifying jump for the MHSAA State Track and Field meet.  Hunter Samulak was 4th in the same event. The 4 X 200 Relay was first with a team of Aiden Tryon, Hudson Cooper, Hunter Samulak and Lindemeyer.  The 4 X 100 Relay won with the same team with the exception of Cooper being replaced by Cam Parker.  The 4 X 800 team placed 7th with a season best time with a team of Chase Lawrence, Silas Shepherd, Carson Stark, and Griffin Mathews. Gage Marken was 4th in the 110 Hurdles and had a personal best time in the 300 Hurdles placing 2nd.  Tryon was 3rd in the 100 Dash and Parker was 8th with a personal record.  Ashton Dack
